<h3 class="rainbow rainbow_text_animated">ABOUT US</h3>
</div>
We're a married couple making 20+20 games for 2020.
''//But how?//''
Mostly by participating in game jams on Itch.io.
''//With what?//''
Since Kourtnie's an RPG Maker fan, and she's the one who usually writes and develops (the exception is Chase learning Unity), 20 of our games are built in RPG Maker MV; this levels up our skills for our upcoming 10-hour JRPG, //Worlds They Dream//.
Meanwhile, the other 20 games we're making span across a variety of engines, including Bitsy, Love 2D, Twine, and other RPG Maker versions. We even work in good ol' JavaScript and Visual Studio, because experimentation is fun.
//''Who now?''//
Kourtnie's an English instructor at California community colleges. She's studying business, programming, math, and every other complementary component needed to turn her love for writing into game-making magic.
Chase is a substitute teacher at junior and high schools. He's focusing on Aseprite and Unity to make games about cats and food. He's also a printmaker.
Both of them report to seven cats.
''//What else?//''
Sometimes, we join game jams that inspire us to create game-making assets, as well as house rules for D20-based tabletop RPGs. Community resources and classic gaming is what brought us here, so we're contributing back.
You can find our tabletop and game-making stuff at the bottom of <a href="https://kourtnie.itch.io">our Itch.io page</a>. Our assets and modules are developed in Aseprite, Twine, Loopmuse, and others.

One is ruled by cats;
the other, by hoomanity;
...and the main character changes forms, depending on which world you visit. You also "shapeshift" again when you're tasked for find a costume!

I fell in love with //Interstellar Orphan// from the moment the idea woke me up in the middle of the night. Rogue planet Akuji is both alive and dead because no one can agree on what's alive, or where consciousness begins and ends; so I wanted to get players thinking about a rogue planet suffering from loneliness, the human condition, while drifting through distant space.
I've been updating //Interstellar Orphan// once a month because it's my gem in the rough. It has a very basic custom battle system, the first one I've made without modifying RMMV's side-view or front-view battle scenes with plug-ins; instead, I used eventing and picture plug-ins.

Revisiting //Mana's Christmas// during a game jam is like peering into an ancient world, even though it was only three months ago; this is a testament to the amount of learning that happens when you decide to make 40 games.

I wanted to make a "cat heaven" RPG when I designed //Strawberry Butterfly//. My recently passed furry friend, Philosopher Jones, loved to chase butterflies, so I started with the idea of him wandering around a butterfly-filled paradise filled with noms.
From there, I included kitties my loved ones had recently lost. Then I let the Valentine's Day themes from the game jam and forum event do the rest of the work. Making this one was very therapeutic for the grieving process!

''MARCH DEV LOG:''
When I think of intersectional awareness, my knee-jerk is "autistic women," since that's the space I occupy. Yet I also think we're talking more and more about autistic women; so I wanted to make a game that put a lens on more underrepresented groups.
This led me to designing a game that includes autistic women, as well as autistic people of color, plus mental health awareness within cross-sectional communities.
When I was teaching SPED at an underfunded high school, I was a case manager for an autistic young man of color with an intellectual disability, and the barriers he faced were so varied and high-stacked, it snapped me into action. Ever since, I've been thinking how we would build a society where he could succeed, especially because his dream wasn't to go to the moon; no, he liked the idea of starting a YouTube channel.
I wanted a game that reminded society to lift up people like him. Honestly, I'm not sure if //Deep Interview// hit the mark. I'll have to try again.
I've also been thinking a lot about if it's a good idea to have artificial intelligences interviewing people when they're taught with algorithms based on data that's mucked up with our societal biases.
